Devops Engineer

RiskSense, Inc. is looking for an entry level DevOps Engineer who is capable of building out and maintaining large complex systems. You will have to help design and deploy the infrastructure for both cloud and local systems that may contain dozens of individual nodes. For many of these systems it will not be tractable to maintain them by hand, and you should be able to recognize when this is the case and utilize tools to automate deployment and maintenance of such systems. This critical role must have a strong technical background, business acumen, strong leadership skills, and people-management skills. Analytical thinking also is very important, as this position often involves problem resolution and process development.

Overview                                                                                                                                                                        

Collaboration with infrastructure engineers, and other team members on the implementation, testing, deployment and integration of network, server and desktop systems:                                                                                                

  • Directing day-to-day operations and maintenance of the firm’s networking technology.
  • Analyzing workflow, delegating projects and meeting departmental goals.
  • Developing and monitoring performance standards.
  • Implementing and monitoring new projects.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, management, oral/written communication skills, as well as the ability to multitask.
  • Able to find the best tools to solve new problems rather than trying to do things manually.

Required Skills

  • Proficient with Linux.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
  • Able to divide your time between managing a small team and working on projects yourself.
  • Ability to manage and deploy complex systems (often composed of many individual components)

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with DevOps tools such as any of the following, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, Packer, and Vagrant.
  • Knowledge of multiple Linux distros (some type of combination - Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, REHL, Arch, Mint, OpenSuse).
  • Microsoft, Cisco or similar professional certifications.
  • Ability to program in Bash/Python/Ruby (any or all of them).
  • Start-up experience.
  • Cyber Security Enthusiast.
  • Experience with administrating RDMS systems and various NOSQL systems.
